This thing is a beast crafted out of Fjallraven’s signature G-1000. It stormed the day I received it so I threw it on and took it out. I stood out in the rain for about 10 minutes and the water just beads up and runs off the material. Waterproof? Check! I’m sure with a coating of wax this anorak will be even better at shedding rain. The kangaroo pocket is spacious and has zippers at both sides. The top zippered pouch opens to its own pouch, accessible from the top. The top pouch does not connect to the kangaroo pouch, which I thought it did. There are drawstrings for the waist adjustment inside at the back. The hem drawstring is at the front sides. There is even a drawstring and a Velcro fastener at the back of the outside of the hood for the adjustment of the hood. Speaking of the hood, it’s also spacious and the edge of the hood has an internal wire so you can adjust its shape and not have it flap around. The hood can be folded back onto itself like a cars’ convertible roof. The sides have two zippers each and unzip all the way up to almost at your armpit, which allows ease of donning and doffing. You can also adjust the zippers to keep the hem part closed but still allow ventilation. There is also a strap on the inside at the back waist that can be unsnapped and runs between the legs to attach to the front snap which keeps your anorak down in extreme wind.I love this thing. $400 is a lot to shell out but “You get what you pay for” applies here and it shows in the craftsmanship. The zippers are good quality, the seams are all solidly sewed together and form/function really comes together well here. While I’m not going to be taking mine through the rugged conditions of the mountains and forests all year long, I’m sure it will do just fine keeping me dry and warm in the urban jungle.
